The client was looking for a short 3D animation. Once the idea of the deck of cards was finalized, I explored a variety of options in which the cards would move in the scene. The fanning movement was decided upon and the expectation was that the card animation would resemble realistic movements.
The main objective of this project was to explore Cinema 4D and 3D Extrude in After Effects. The objective of the animation was to ensure that the movement of the cards looked realistic.
The main challenge of this animation was the small adjustments of the cards coming out of the box and fanning on the table. At first, the cards sliding out of the box was too fast and the fanning movement looked unnatural. After adjusting the position and easing, the animation improved tremendously.
With the addition of texture and lighting, the piece elevated to a final result that I am very pleased with and that achieved all of the objectives of the assignment. The success of this assignment was measured by the clients positive reception and by my own delight of the final piece.
